Getting started
Deposit Shield needs no account and no sign-in. Open the app, add your property, and follow the guided shot list room by room. For each item you can rate the condition Good, Fair, Poor or Damaged and add a note. Every photo you take is stamped with the date, time and location and sealed with a SHA-256 hash so it cannot be quietly altered later.
How to export a PDF report
- Open the property you want to export.
- Tap the Export or Report button.
- Choose your report: the free tier produces a watermarked preview, and Premium produces a clean report with a signature line and a hash integrity page.
- Deposit Shield builds the PDF on your device.
- Use the iOS share sheet to save the file, email it, or send it to your landlord or deposit scheme.
The hash integrity page lists the fingerprint of every photo in the report. Anyone can use it to confirm the images were not edited after capture.
How the move-out pairing camera works
This is the feature most tenants rely on at the end of a tenancy.
- When you documented your move-in, each photo recorded its angle and framing.
- On move-out day, open the move-out camera for that same item.
- A faint ghost of your original move-in photo appears on screen. Line up the live view until it matches the ghost.
- Capture the shot. Deposit Shield automatically pairs the move-in and move-out photos.
- Your PDF then shows the two images side by side on a single comparison page.
This makes it clear what was already there when you arrived and what is genuine, fair wear and tear. The move-out pairing camera is a Premium feature.
Camera and location permissions
Deposit Shield asks for camera access so it can take your evidence photos, and for location access so it can stamp each photo with where it was taken. Both permissions are optional and are requested only when a feature needs them.
- If you decline location, your photos are still captured and hashed, they just will not carry a GPS stamp.
- Location data is used only to stamp your evidence and never leaves your device.
- You can change these permissions any time in the iOS Settings app under Deposit Shield.
How to restore purchases
If you bought the lifetime unlock or a subscription and it is not showing, for example after reinstalling the app or switching to a new iPhone:
- Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to buy.
- Open Deposit Shield and go to the paywall or the settings screen.
- Tap Restore Purchases.
- Your Premium access will be reactivated at no extra charge.
Subscription and purchase info
Premium is available three ways:
- Lifetime unlock: a one-time purchase of $16.99. It is a non-consumable, so you own it forever with no renewals.
- Annual subscription: $19.99 per year, auto-renewing.
- Weekly subscription: $3.99 per week with a 3-day free trial, auto-renewing.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can view, change or cancel a subscription any time here: Manage your subscriptions. Full details are in our Terms.
iCloud backup
Premium includes optional iCloud backup. When enabled, your properties and evidence are backed up to your own iCloud under your Apple ID. This is Apple's iCloud, not App Harbour servers. We never receive your data. See our Privacy Policy.
Troubleshooting
My photos are not stamped with a location
Check that location permission is granted for Deposit Shield in iOS Settings. Location stamping only works when permission is allowed.
The ghost overlay is not appearing
The ghost overlay only appears for items that already have a move-in photo. Document the move-in first, then use the move-out camera on the same item.
My PDF still has a watermark
The watermarked preview is part of the free tier. Unlock Premium to generate the clean report with a signature line and hash integrity page.
